What is Cosmetic Tattooing?
Cosmetic tattooing is also known as permanent makeup and can be used to enhance your brows, eyes and lips using pigmentation that lasts between 1 to 5 years.
Using a specialised digital machine, I use a ‘nano’ needle, which is an extremely fine needle that injects the chosen shade of pigment approximately 1mm beneath your skin enhancing the areas being treated.
The procedure is perfectly safe and has been medically approved.
Does it Hurt?
Applying a pre-numbing anaesthetic cream, helps to numb the area being treated. Permanent makeup is a form of tattooing and some level of discomfort can be felt depending on your sensitivity and the area being treated.
Applying a pre-numbing anaesthetic cream before and during the treatment does help reduce the discomfort for many clients.
Machine or Micro-Blade?
The machine technique is becoming more popular by many people as it is much less invasive to the skin than micro-blading.
Using the machine method in the salon, allows me to create the most natural looking brows with the minimal amount of damage to the skin.
Will the Colour Match my Skin Tone?
A pre-consultation is required to determine the best shape and colour of the treatment for each client’s skin type. This pre-consultation is fundamentally important to ensure all your questions are answered and to allow me to determine the best treatment for your skin and to prepare you for the day of treatment.
Is it Hygienic and Safe?
All equipment is kept to the strictest of hygiene and sterilisation standards. Pre-packed sterile needle cartridges are used for each individual client.
I ensure the strictest standard of hygiene and all treatment accessories are disposable consumables, the needles used are single use/disposable and a new needle is opened in-front of the client before each treatment.
An aftercare guideline is given to each client after the treatment and if adhered to there should be no problems with infection if the treated area is kept clean and free from debris.
If the client is prone to the Herpes Simplex Virus, otherwise known as the cold sore virus, there is a chance that the Lip Enhancement procedure could instigate an outbreak, so it is important to be advised by a doctor of a treatment plan previous to the procedure to try to prevent this happening.
Does it Last Forever?
Permanent makeup is a technique much like traditional tattooing procedures in that pigment is injected into the skin. With permanent makeup, the pigment is only applied approximately 1mm beneath the skin, which means that it fades faster than a traditional tattoo.
To maintain the results of cosmetic tattooing it is recommended that the procedure be repeated every 1-2 years, this keeps the look refreshed and the lines sharp and defined.
How Quickly will it Heal?
Each person heals differently, however as a rule your skin should heal between 7 to 14 days after treatment, with the deeper tissues healing around 14 days.
Most clients are able to return to work the following day.
How Long will the Treatment Take?
Allow up to 2.5 hours for your treatment, this enables us both to fully relax while the treatment is underway, and we are not rushed.
What will I Look Like After?
The treated area is likely to be a little sore and swollen, however this quickly reduces within 3 to 7 days. The colour of the treated area will be a little more intense, fading as it heals. Do not be alarmed if the colour fades quickly, that’s why we offer a follow up treatment to ensure we achieve your chosen shade.
It is usual for the treated area to scab, it’s important not to pick at the area as there is a risk of removing the pigment from that area creating an uneven healed result.
